SSRC or VOOHC

SSRC (Specialised Substitute Residential Care) which was previously known as VOOHC (Voluntary Out of Home Care) in New South Wales (NSW) is an option available to parents or guardians who make a personal choice to place their child or young person in the care of others temporarily. It recognizes that parents or guardians may require additional support or assistance in providing the necessary care and support for their child at a particular time.

SSRC is centered around the active involvement of parents or guardians. They have the autonomy to decide whether this arrangement is suitable for their family and their child's well-being.

Behaviour Support Respite

This is specialized type of respite care that focuses on providing support and guidance for children who exhibit challenging behaviours. It is designed to offer temporary relief for parents while also addressing the specific behavioural needs of their child.

During behaviour support respite, the caregivers will implement strategies and techniques to help the child manage their behaviour and develop more positive coping skills. They will provide consistency, structure, and clear boundaries while promoting social and emotional growth.
